What is EDWOSB (Economically Disadvantaged WOSB)?
A subset of the WOSB program for women-owned businesses where the woman owner is also economically disadvantaged.
The Economically Disadvantaged Women-Owned Small Business (EDWOSB) designation is a subset of the WOSB program that provides additional contracting opportunities. To qualify, the firm must meet all WOSB requirements and the woman owner must demonstrate economic disadvantage — a personal net worth of less than $850,000 (excluding primary residence and business equity).
EDWOSB set-aside contracts are available in a broader set of NAICS codes than standard WOSB set-asides, covering industries where WOSBs are substantially underrepresented. This means EDWOSB-certified firms can access more contracting opportunities than WOSB-only firms.
The certification process is the same as WOSB, with the additional requirement of documenting the owner's economic disadvantage through personal financial statements.
